THE BACKSTORY
A brief history on how we got started.
Sunlit Studios wasn't planned — it happened when the right people and moments came together. Through prayer, time, talent and treasure, we took the risk and have reached 150 million lives so far! Here is a brief summary highlighting the key frames of our story.
The Family. We are a South Florida family of four, married over 25 years with 2 amazing daughters. We are serial entrepreneurs, pioneering SAAS companies focused on the automotive dealers and manufacturers and acquiring broad expertise identifying niche opportunities, building teams and working with a diverse set of partners. Today, as our daughters have grown and the businesses have matured, our focus on shining His light with Sunlit Studios…and staying connected to our automotive roots with Rebel Motor Club, that we also use as our studio.
The Beginning. In 2019, we took a trip to Israel with our local church. It was truly enriching, having the privilege of spending time with extraordinary scholars and educators deeply rooted in historical and biblical studies. The insights not only deepened our understanding but also inspired us to take action. We began brainstorming innovative ways to transform our past product and technical knowledge into engaging media formats. This confluence of faith, learning, and business acumen planted the seeds for what would become Sunlit Studios.
The Inspiration. Returning from Israel, we faced a sudden and severe challenge: a near death brain aneurysm, coma and rehab. By His grace, we recovered 100% and emerging with a renewed perspective on how to our steward time, talent, and treasure. This life-altering experience re-enforced our desire to blend our entrepreneurial spirit with faith, leading us back to the amazing talent at our local church family to explore new faith-focused content creation and distribution projects.
The Shows. Our inaugural project was the Watermark Gospel with Warren Gage, an animated series illuminating how the entire Bible points to Jesus. Inspired by this success, a local men’s breakfast led by Sam Kastensmidt was reimagined into the Under The Hood show. This was followed by The Bible Show and In God We Trusted. Together, these projects and a few others achieved an astounding 150 million engagements within just 18 months. The remarkable adoption provided the confidence to take the risk and we formed Sunlit Studios - a faith focused media and software experiment.
The Software. Alongside the content creation, we developed a proprietary software platform for content management, streaming marketing and distribution. It’s called Stream Machine - think of it as “Netflix in a box” with an embedded marketing and syndication engine. We load our content into Stream Machine, create short form and long form marketing assets for distribution to popular streaming and social apps, and monitor the engagement. It’s also available as a white-labeled solution for ministries and businesses to manage, stream and market their products and services to help us generate money for our shows and software development.
The Future. Today, Sunlit Studios stands as a vibrant fusion of content creation and technology. We are expanding our global footprint, sharing inspiring, faith-based stories that educate, uplift, and connect with millions around the world. Rooted firmly in Jesus, biblical truths and rigorous research, we are committed to powerful storytelling that shines light into lives and communities everywhere. As we prepare to expand, the mission remains crystal clear: impact hearts and minds through innovative media that fosters deep engagement and lasting transformation.
